SMH Good Food Guide 2008

"If you are looking for a unique dining experience, get to Gunyah. Located in the heart of the Australian equivalent of an African safari camp - all five-star tents and wilderness - this beautiful timber space is perched midway up in the trees, offering fine views of the surrounding forest. As a very special bonus, when it gets dark the local possums come and visit. The three-course dinner is a clever mix of local produce such as Greenwell Point oysters and Jervis Bay mussels with pleasant hints of bush tucker. Kick off with seared scallops, beansprout, mint and cucumber relish; or crisp-baked fig wrapped in prosciutto and served with a (rather overwhelming) verjuice gorgonzola sauce. For mains, seared fish with tomato saffron is perfectly cooked. Jervis Bay mussels stir-fried with chilli jam, Thai basil and served with jasmine rice is a successful Oz-Asian mix, while a summer berry ice-cream splice completes your tree-top adventure".
