The Gunyah dining room is integral to Paperbark Camp and as such, the Restaurant Supervisor (RS) plays an important part in ensuring that the guest has the best possible experience.
The primary role of the RS is to ensure guests have a great dining experience by working closely with the head chef to communicate their ideas and creativity and to motivate and train all staff to give them confidence in their roles and to create an inclusive and safe working environment. The atmosphere of the restaurant is professional yet relaxed, attentive yet casual, and above all should reflect a genuine warmth of hospitality.
The dining room has until recently been closed to outside guests, but as we look to welcoming outside patrons once again we are looking for a motivated supervisor to work with the General Manager and Head Chef to ensure a high standard of service. Assistance with rostering, ordering, bar menu creation, and staff training are all required, as well as ensuring hygiene and safety standards are met at all times. The unique operating environment means that the RS must be able to think on their feet, be able to deal with changing circumstances and have a can-do, team orientated attitude. The job also require an understanding of the accommodation side of the business.
The successful candidate will have been working in the hospitality industry in varying capacities for at least 5 years and preferably have 2 years supervisory experience in a busy and well regarded establishment. RSA and computer knowledge a must as is a solid knowledge and interest in wines, particularly Australian. Some experience of events would also be welcomed as we do cater to weddings and small conferences as well as yoga and wellness retreats.
The Gunyah at Paperbark Camp is not your average restaurant, being in the bush there is abundant wildlife and a closeness to nature that is very special and brings its own challenges but makes it all the more fun. The business has been owned by the same family for over 18 years and staff are a close knit team. We aim to create a caring and fun environment for all involved.
The local area of Jervis Bay is one of Australia's most beautiful with pristine waterways, white sandy beaches and wonderful bushland. It offers a great and affordable coastal lifestyle and is also desirable for families. It is a growing tourism destination both domestically and internationally and Paperbark Camp welcomes guests from all around the world.
